Kamosu Mori is an auberge nestled in one of the heaviest snowfall areas of Matsunoyama. Surrounded by vast forests and magnificent nature, guests can savor the rich flavors of the satoyama landscape. Next door, the craft sake brewery “Snow Satoyama Sake” has recently opened, offering new encounters between food and sake.

The cuisine presents a local gastronomy where the skills of Chef Akira Kuriyama—recipient of one Michelin star in the Michelin Guide Niigata Special Edition—harmonize with the traditional preservation and fermentation wisdom passed down in Snow Country. Enjoy a seasonal course meal in an environment embraced by the forest and snow of Matsunoyama.

The auberge offers nine guest rooms, ranging from private villa-style suites and rooms with scenic baths to more casual options. On the following day, guests can enjoy their stay in the satoyama through art tours at Echigo-Tsumari sites such as Kiyotsu Gorge and the Matsudai “Nohbutai,” or explore nature at Hoshitoge Rice Terraces and the Bijinbayashi forest, as well as join exchange programs with local residents.
