Important News from the Tamakiya Group
Thank you for your continued patronage of Hotel kamosu mori.
We are writing to announce a major transition across our properties:
1. Chef Transition & Culinary Changes
The Head Chef of Hotel kamosu mori, Takahiro Ofuchi, will transfer to our sister property, Sake hotel Tamakiya, effective January 18, 2026.
- New kamosu mori: Hotel kamosu mori will welcome Chef Akira Kuriyama (currently of Sake hotel Tamakiya). With this change, the cuisine will transition from Italian to French, as the property relaunches as “Auberge kamosu mori.”
- New Tamakiya: Sake hotel Tamakiya will transform into an inn where guests can enjoy Chef Ofuchi’s cuisine alongside Owner Yamagishi’s signature “Sake and Food Pairing.”
We sincerely hope you will offer your warm support as Chef Ofuchi embarks on this new challenge.
2. Final Service Dates & New Opening Dates
The final dinner service under Chef Obuchi and Manager Sakurai at kamosu mori will be on January 17, 2026. We hope you will have the opportunity to visit us before then.
- “Auberge kamosu mori” will relaunch on January 30, 2026.
- Sake Hotel Tamakiya will open under its new structure on January 24, 2026.
3. Exciting Additions
- This winter, a new craft sake brewery, “Snow Satoyama Sake”, run by Tomomi Duquette, is scheduled to open next door, allowing guests to enjoy local craft sake.
- “Ponshu Hotel Suimu”, which opened in May 2025, is dedicated to the enjoyment of “sake,” featuring a free flow of 30 varieties of Niigata local sake. We encourage you to experience the Uonuma Cedar Sauna—the first in Matsunoyama Onsen—available for day visits and private reservations during your stay.
